Foundation Fun – Summer Two Overview

This half-term our topic is Zoo animals, which for Miss Millington’s and Mrs Mayhew’s children will include an exciting trip to the zoo, on Thursday 27th June. In Literacy, our focus and our work will be based on stories about Zoo animals, starting with; Giraffes Can’t Dance and And Tango Makes Three. Keep an eye out on Yammer for the stories to follow; we will inform you fortnightly about what we’re going to get up to in Literacy and Maths.

Maths this half-term will focus on Height, Weight and Capacity. Children will take part in lots of practical activities focussed on these objectives.

As part of our Zoo topic, children will take part in the ‘Random Acts of Wildness’ challenge; thirty days of being wild, as seen on the Wildlife Trust website. Children will take part in daily activities which will involve them getting outdoors and completing the daily act of ‘wildness’.

Lots of exciting days coming up this half-term include; Father’s Day afternoon on 14th June, Sports Day on 24th June and the Summer Show Day on 18th July. Please keep an eye on Yammer for information regarding these special days.

For F2 children, PE will continue to be on Monday. We will be dancing in the hall, so please ensure children have shorts and a t-shirt in school ready for each Monday’s PE lesson. Football on a Tuesday morning will continue also. Please can children continue to come to school in their outdoor PE kits and ensure they have their school uniform in their bags.

Nursery Forest Fun will continue to be on a Wednesday and F2 Forest Fun will continue to be on a Thursday, so please ensure they are dressed appropriately for their outdoor activities. On a sunny day, please ensure children come to school with sunscreen on and a hat, if you think suitable.

We are very excited for the upcoming summer fun! If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to pop in and see us anytime.

Thank you for your continued support.
