Curriculum

Mathematics

We aim to provide the pupils with a mathematics curriculum and high-quality teaching to develop individuals who are numerate, creative, independent, inquisitive, enquiring and confident. We also aim to provide a stimulating environment and adequate resources so that pupils can develop their mathematical skills to the full.

At Holly Primary School we aim to ensure that all pupils:

  • become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including through varied and frequent practice with increasingly complex problems over time, so that pupils develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately.
  • reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language
  • can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non-routine problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions

Useful Websites

Here are links to a range of websites we use regularly in school. Children have their own individual passwords for Educationcity & TTRockstars, so everyone can log in at home – click the image to visit the login pages.

EducationCity can be used at home as a way of getting involved with your child’s schoolwork.

Teachers can set homework using EducationCity, meaning children can continue their learning in the evenings, weekends and over the holidays to combat holiday learning loss.

Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice.

Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practiced every third week or so.
