Foundation Fun Summer Two – 2018

Welcome back after the half term break! We hope the weather this half term will enable us to fully utilise all of our lovely outdoor spaces. We therefore ask for you continue to apply sun cream every morning before school and send your child with a sun hat please. Please remember to send full-time children in their PE kits every Tuesday, as our fantastic Football sessions with Danny will continue until the end of term. For your information, Sports Day is on the morning of Monday 18th June, from 9am, please send your children in their sports kit on this day. Nursery Sports Day (both am and pm children) need to come in the morning (9.00am), there is no afternoon nursery on this day. All nursery children will need to attend Sports Day with their adult and then they will be able to go home once Sports Day has finished. This non-competitive event will be fun-filled for all the family, we hope to see you all there!

This year’s Summer Show will be on the afternoon of Thursday 19th July. All children will require an adult to attend the show with them. If this is impossible, please let your child’s teacher know in advance. This year’s theme is Rock and Roll! The songs we are singing and dancing along to are: Rock around the clock by Bill Haley, Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley and Let’s twist again by Chubby Checker. Children are invited to come dressed in Rock and Roll clothes, if you google ‘Rock and roll clothes for children’ there are some lovely ideas.

Father’s Day celebrations will be on Friday 15th June from 2.00pm. We invite all fathers to attend and join in with the afternoon activities provided. Morning nursery fathers are invited to stay with their child from 9.00am – 10.00am on this day.

Your child will have a Learning Review this half term, letters will follow to inform you about the dates.

This half term we are focussing our work on the story ‘Mr Gumpy’s Outing’ all work will be boats, pirates and seaside focussed. We will be doing lots of outdoor, writing, role-play and arts and crafts activities throughout the half term based on this theme.

Please continue to read with your child every day. We have had a large amount of children achieve their 100 and 200 reads certificate and prize! Well done to those children! Reading every day helps your child develop a lifelong love of reading.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Foundation Team
