Vision
At Holly Primary School, we believe that art stimulates creativity, imagination and inventiveness. We believe that art gives our pupils the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express responses to ideas and experiences. We promote recognising personal strengths and have the ethos that anyone can do art.
We provide children with a wealth of opportunities to develop and apply their art skills using a range of materials, tools and techniques. We learn about famous artists, sculptors and designers in order to educate about the different styles and works of art from the past and present. Children are able to use these as starting points to create their own artwork.
Intent
- To engage, inspire and challenge pupils to invent and create their own works of art.
- To give children opportunities to explore and investigate a range of materials, to gain knowledge of these, to develop their skills and techniques, and then to use these to express ideas, feelings and experiences.
- To become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques.
- To study great artists, sculptors and designers and understand the contribution of art in history and culture.
