At Holly Primary School, through song, games and interactive learning, we want to encourage the children to be enthusiastic and confident about learning a language and encourage their curiosity about other countries, cultures and people. How do other people around the world eat, sleep, go to school, work, play, celebrate, shop and enjoy themselves?
How does this compare to our lives? We want the children to confidently express their ideas and thoughts in French with plenty of opportunities to interact and communicate with others.
- To develop curiosity and confidence in learning a language.
- To gain awareness and understanding of other countries, cultures and people.
- To be confident in expressing their ideas and thoughts in French orally in front of small and larger audiences and in writing.
- To be able to build on their skills, progressing to more complex language concepts and greater learner autonomy.
Each term, we use a range of methods to assess skills and knowledge attained by the children –
- Pupil Voice
- Three Thinkers Questions
- Book Looks
- Regular lesson feedback
